The New Urban Decay Electric Palette Review

I was in Ulta earlier just milling about trying to find something fun and new to review when I came across this! The last one in the store, just waiting to be bought. I snatched it like a kitten and a mouse, and promptly went to the register.

$49 later, here I am! I can't wait to create some incredible looks using this palette! I will be posting one tomorrow that I created earlier today.

The lovely thing about the Electric Palette is that these are pigments, not shadows. You can actually use this on your lips, in your hair, on your brows-wherever! I'm excited to pair my OCC Clear Lip Tar with some of these crazy colors!

 As you can see, the colors are highly pigmented. There is still quite a bit of fallout, but that's what Urban Decay's shadows are known for at this point.

While the palette is fun and colorful, if you aren't an adventurous person, I wouldn't recommend buying it. I also noticed that while it looks nice to use a primer with it on your eyes, it makes them very difficult to blend, so if you don't have a lot of time for blending(or you get fed up with it), this is probably not the palette for you.

PSA: Dupe for Buzz from Naked 3

I have been searching long and hard for a dupe for Buzz from the new Naked 3 Palette by Urban Decay. As you can see from the picture above, Buzz is my favorite color, and a favorite thus far for many of the palette's owners. Because there haven't been a lot of rose gold palettes, there aren't many possibilities for dupes, but I've found one!

Normally, I have no interested in Ulta's brand name products, but being that I've already hit pan on this shade, I knew I needed to act fast, so I took one for the team. The shade is fittingly called "Rose Gold" and is a cream based shadow. 

The shade is $8 for a full container of it, and doesn't need a primer. In the picture above, the two colors are compared side by side on top of NYX's Milk Pencil for a primer. As you can see, Buzz is actually suffering from a lack of pigmentation again Rose Gold. The two colors are absolutely identical in shade. Rose Gold did have a difficult time blending against non-cream shadows, but nothing a little Maybelline Baby Skin on top couldn't fix. 

If I had to choose between spending $52 for another Naked 3 or spending $8 for Rose Gold, hands down I would go with Rose Gold.

So today was an incredibly long day. I'm sure you don't care to know all of the boring details, but I'll tell you anyway. My husband was called in last minute, and has been at work for 10 hours, and won't be home for another two and a half. This left me to do more packing(we move in 6 days) and errands that I won't have time to do before Monday. This left me in the very dangerous position of having to go to Target. By. My. Self. 

If you're as addicted to Target as I, you would know that that's a very dangerous position to be put in. So, per protocol, I had to check out the makeup to see if there was anything new. 

As I casually browse the aisle, I see nothing of interest and begin to slunk away, tail between my legs. Wait, what is that shiny thing? A wild NYX Antwerp appears! And it was the last one! What am I to do but put it in my cart to take it out of it's lonely misery and give it a loving home.

Please excuse the orangey lighting, the sun was out in full force, and my battlestation lights won't be up until we move. Until then, here we go! Using my brand new Amazonian Clay Foundation, Kat Von D Concealer, ELF Tone Correcting Powder, and Coastal Scents Bronzer for contour, we begin!

As you can see, the key to this look is just blend, blend, blend! Using Too Faced Shadow Insurance Primer, I began with the shade "Martinique" from the new Sephora Palette "In The Tropics". Now as I mentioned in my January Haul post, I'm not normally a fan of Sephora shadows, but I suspect they used a new recipe on these, because they're ultra pigmented, soft, and very smooth. 

Moving on, I used "Bermuda" on the base of my eyes and blended "Grenada" in my outer crease. These shadows had a harder time blending than I originally suspected, but are easily worth the $26 for the palette.
